I'm Baaaaack

March was... shall we say an off month. I lost Petey, my pedometer. Then bought Petey II and lost him. They day before leaving for Hawaii Nelson found both of them!! Since I didn't have actual distances for a couple weeks I had to estimate. Being the accountant that I am I think I have estimated on the low end but these are the numbers I am sticking with.

Total miles in March: 177
Total miles traveled: 332.86
Miles remaining: 506.14

Since March was such a slow month I decided I MUST get back on the saddle and move it or else I will get stranded in the desert. So April 1st I took the dogs for a nice walk and ended the day with 3.2 whole miles!
Monday and Tuesday I really stepped it up. Went to spin class both days for combined total of 34 miles biked and 4 miles walked. Wednesday and Thursday I didn't do much but walked a total of 7.5 miles.
Today, Friday, I went to spin class and biked a horrible 16.5 miles of hills. I sure hope I can walk straight tomorrow.

1st week of April, so far, totals: 65.2

Miles remaining: 440.94

Days 19-21

Day 19 (Feb 25th): I am still recovering from being sick. I think I may have pushed myself too far yesterday. So I only walked 2.5 miles.

Day 20 (Feb 26th): After gospel meeting Nelson and I went over to the Cody and Rachel Waldo's for dinner and games. Rachel made this delicious mushroom and chicken pasta dish(click here for the recipe). Rachel and Bink helped me with a 1.5 miles. Bringing the day's grand total to 3.25.

Day 21 (Feb 27th): Nelson's car is in the shop so he dropped me off at work and I rode my bike home! It was an absolutely wonderful late afternoon ride. The sun was shining and it was only slightly breezy. I love working only 2.1 miles from home. In the evening I went to the hardest spin class I have had so far. We bike 23 miles!! I was sweating so much that it was dripping off my nose!! Petey the pedometer says "5.13" miles of walking today. That is a grand total of 30.23 miles for one day!! I think I am now caught up from last week without taking miles from anyone.

Still averaging 7 miles a day!!

I have not given up...

It has been a crazy week in my corner of the world. On Wednesday the 15th (after going to the gym and biking 18.1 miles) I saw an ad on craigslist for a company looking for an accounting assistant asap. I quickly showered (wanted to make a good impression) and went over. Turns out it was a staffing agency that put the ad out but I filled out an application anyways. Later that afternoon I got a phone call from AES (the staffing place) and they wanted to set up an interview for the next day!
Thursday morning I biked 1o miles and ran 4 miles (told you I am not giving up, just a terrible blogger). I went to my interview at 2 and got a call the very next morning offering me the job!!!!
Friday was a crazy day... went to the gym and ran 3 miles biked 6... then left for portland that afternoon. We had a wonderful weekend but.... i forgot my pedometer. I've tried calculating the exact miles but we walked around Woodburn outlets, downtown portland, and ikea. My guestimate for the weekend is about 8 miles for the 3 days... not a good average.
I was not able to make it to the gym Tues - Thurs because I was recovering from being sick. I did however go to the gym yesterday (Friday) and bike 10 miles.
**For those of you who were running, walking or biking during those 3 days please leave me a comment of your miles. I am going to add them to my total at 50%.**

About the job:
I am now working full time for a company called Computrol located here in Meridian (a whole 6 minute drive from home). They manufacture electronic components. I am an assistant to the controller of the company doing whatever accounting work she needs done. I like the people I work with and feel appreciated there.

Days 5, 6 & 7 + some valentines blabber

I didn't want to bore anyone with my travels over the weekend so... with a new week I have some renewed energy. Thanks everyone for the comments and encouragement. This is a little tougher than I expected... actually I didn't know what to expect.

Saturday Nelson and I biked to our favorite breakfast spot (if you are ever in Meridian, Id must stop into Sunrise Cafe) a whole 1.9 miles!

Since I was ahead of schedule on my distance I slacked off (oops). For the whole weekend my trusty pedometer (still need a name for him) said I clocked 4.2 miles. That is below average for one day! Let alone 2 full days.

Monday I went to spin class and biked 17 miles! So I think that helps make up for some of my weekend.

If you have read this far you either love me a lot or have nothing to do :) hope it's because you love me.

All for now... need to think of something to do for Nelson for valentines! I won't bore you with our valentines morning but.... maybe I will... I woke up to some beautiful violin music. I jumped out of bed and there in my dining room was my handsome husband playing for me :) He made a beautiful breakfast, mimosas and a nice cup of hot coffee. I feel like such a lucky girl to have a man like him in my life.

Days 3 & 4

Just a quick little update...
I indeed took it easy on Thursday... I only walked a total of 3.2 miles! But Friday I was at it again. I rode the bike for 18.3 miles and walked for 2 miles (thanks to Nelson walking around the mall with me).

Day 2

Wow! I'm a bit sore. I ran 2 miles and biked 6 miles yesterday morning (Wednesday). The muscles in my legs are not happy about my new adventure. I bought a foam roller and have been rolling the pain away. I also bought a cute little pedometer. I put it on about 4:30 in the evening and walked .98 miles before the night was through. Since Moreno Valley is quite a ways I decided that I am going to count the times that I am walking through my house, mall, grocery store etc. Going to take today a little easier because I want my legs to have some time to recover. Thanks everyone for the words of encouragement!

Day 1

Today was a great first day out. I went to spin class this morning and biked 16.2 miles. This evening when Nelson and I went to the gym I was on the elyptical for 1.5 miles. My little pedometer app on my phone said that I walked 1056 feet which is 0.2 miles. I am not sure that the app works really well so I am on a mission to find a pedometer that works.

These last few weeks I have had quite a bit of time on my hands. This is the first time since Nelson and I were married that I have not been working and/or going to school. I sat down and wondered... What am I going to do now?!
I cook. I clean. I do laundry. I sit and make cards. I entertain (thanks Chris Hill, Zach Z, Cheryl E and Melissa W for making January a full month). I wait patiently for my husband to come home from work. But something is still lacking...
On May 31st I am turning 25!!! Oh NO!!
Here comes some serious evaluating of my life... a quarter of a century has gone by... and what have I accomplished? What do I want to accomplish?
I have decided that before my 25th birthday I am going to walk, run, or bike from my doorstep to my parents doorstep (not literally, just that many miles)!


According to trusty google it is 839 miles! There are 118 days until my birthday. That means I need to walk, run or bike an average of 7 miles a day. This is going to be a huge undertaking but I think that if I put my mind to it, I can do it! I will be posting my progress here hopefully everyday. If not every couple days. Please help me with encouraging comments and travel with me from 981 N Stonehenge Way, Meridian, ID to 27760 Via De La Real, Moreno Valley CA!!!

Any walking, running or biking partners out there?!
